Skin Care Products for Dry Skin/Eczema

If you have eczema you know the struggle. Growing up with eczema wasn't fun, but I think the worst part of it was when other kids would always make sure to ask "is that contagious?". And in case you were wondering, no, it's not. Now, the worst part about my eczema is that it's on my face. Total bummer. When I have a flare up it causes my makeup to not sit right and my wrinkles look a little more deep set than normal. Since eczema is an allergy it makes finding the right skincare that much more difficult. I will probably never know what exactly it is that I am allergic to, but I do know what irritates my skin more...alcohol. I bet you didn't realize how many things have alcohol in them. Everything. Things that don't seem like they should contain alcohol like your shampoo, soap, even skincare. The list really goes on and on. Alcohol dries your skin and when someone's skin is already dry and irritated it can really exacerbate the dry skin issue. So for a girl that just turned 30 it has been a complete nightmare trying to find the right skincare for me. Experimenting to find the right skin care routine for me has not been fun, so I decided to make this post for you. For the girl that has eczema or maybe just dry skin, so you don't have to go through the experimental process like I did.

I was looking for a few things when it came to my skincare. Something that would reverse my sun damage and hyperpigmentation, reduce those fine lines and wrinkles (prevention would also be nice), and something to hydrate my dry skin instead of further irritate it, but also wouldn't break out my face. I can confidently say I have cracked the code.

Finally the good stuff. Here is my holy grail skincare line up.

THE BASICS

You need to start out with as basic as it gets and then start to add in more things once your skin has had some time to adjust. Start out with a cleanser. My favorite cleanser is the Seint cleanser. It is a lactic acid- cream based cleanser, so it is extremely gentle and won't strip your skin of its protective barrier, like most cleansers tend to do. It also does not contain alcohol. Major win. This cleanser is hands down the most gentle product I have used. The second best cleanser is the Vanicream Gentle Cleanser. It is not as gentle as the Seint cleanser, but it is still a good choice. I always like to use the microfiber clothes with my cleanser or any kind of mask I use. I have found the microfiber clothes are much more gentle on my skin than regular wash cloths.

Next is moisturizer. I am going to follow this up with the Seint Creme. It is the only cream moisturizer that doesn't break out my face. It hydrates the skin while also working to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. BUT, if you currently have an eczema flare up or are using a harsh chemical on your face, then I would use the CeraVe moisturizing cream. I don't think it is intended for your face, but this product saved my face when I wanted to use a peel solution or if I just used something that didn't sit well with my skin. My go to is the Seint Creme for everyday use, but I always have the CeraVe moisturizing cream on hand.

HYPERPIGMENTATION/SUN DAMAGE

Here is where we get into the good stuff. If you are like me and have hyperpigmentation or sun damage (I had both) then these products are going to be your best friend. I tried so many products and none worked until I found these. The Beauty Rx Peel Solution. Try it for 2 weeks and you will see that it works. It works very well, but it is a peel solution so it is extremely drying. Every time I use this product I always make sure to follow it up with the CeraVe moisturizing cream mainly concentrated in the areas I normally have eczema flare ups. And you must wear sunscreen while using this product and after you are done with this product because we don't want that sun damage to come back. I like to use the Supergoop 40 SPF. I like that it is tinted and it works as a really great primer for my makeup.

After you have corrected your sun damage or hyperpigmentation I would use the Seint Masque to maintain. It is an extremely gentle exfoliant and leaves your skin feeling so soft. I always use the Microfiber Cloths with it. And again no harsh chemicals!

TANNING

After trying many self tanning lotions and sprays I finally found one that doesn't irritate or break out my face. Tanologist tanning drops. I mix a couple drops in with my moisturizer at night and I wake up with a new glow. I love how you can mix these drops in with your favorite lotion or moisturizer, so your skin doesn't have to try to adjust to something new all over again. You also have the option to control your tan. The more drops you apply the tanner you will be and vice versa. I have the dark shade and I start out with one or two drops and in the summer I use 3 or 4. My skin changes very quickly, so I like the ability to control how tan your self tanner can be. It also lasts. One time I forgot to wash my hands after and I had a horrible hand tan line for over a week! And believe me I scrubbed and scrubbed, but it wouldn't budge. So don't forget to wash your hands afterwards, but also its a testimony to how long these tanning drops last.

If you have decided to start out with the Seint Skincare you can get the whole Skincare Collection as a bundle and save some money or you can get them individually.

The bundle comes with the cleanser, toner, cream moisturizer, & the microfiber cloths. And its currently on sale until July! Or get them individually through the links above.

I hope this was helpful!
